Police have confirmed the true identity of a latest victim in what is being called “the mystery death”, Wycliffe Omwenga. He was set to testify against his brother Kelvin when he too mysteriously died last year at their home in Nairobi.
Wycliffe and Kelvin were from Riruta but had taken up residence with family members in Karen where they lived until September 2013 before moving back into their prefered Somali-dominated neighbourhood following threats on both men’s lives by unknown assailants who wanted them gone for good after failing major business deals involving Kenyan politicians’ involvement.
The story starts out with Wycliffe, who was at his brother’s house in the Galana Suites. He then hears a loud bang coming from the bedroom and rushes inside to find Kelvin on his back covered in blood as he bled profusely from an open wound near his chest. His body hit against the wall before falling onto its side; this is what caused him to bleed so much as well unsurprisingly. The bullet had ripped through their chests before embedding itself into one of the walls–but luckily for them both neither were fatally wounded by it given how high they are now positioned along that aforementioned barrier separating them apart (literally).
What ensued afterward though? Well after retrieving something like basic first-aid supplies nearby within seconds
Police revealed that a shooting victim was shot from an elevated angle. They later linked the incident with Chris Obure, who they arrested alongside his bodyguard Robert Bodo for murder and misuse of firearm charges. Mr Obure told detectives about how he accidentally fired at the victim in Dubai during a deal to sell gold when it turned out as if it were intentional but still not sure what really happened until further investigation is made around this case.
His attempt to be listed as a prosecution witness on grounds that he would cooperate with detectives failed after the judge declined his request. The two suspects were, however, freed and prohibited from handling firearms until their case is heard and determined.
The detail of Wycliffe’s death was unclear due to lack of information following an incident where only one suspect died while in police custody. His family is demanding answers for what happened but must await results from medical examiners before they can make any conclusions about how this all went down or who might have ordered such action against him based on undisclosed evidence gathered at the scene by investigators still looking into it since Friday morning when word first came out regarding allegations over unlawful possession of firearm charges filed last year stemming back before 2019
