Ohangla artist Maureen Achieng, prominently known as Lady Maureen, is dead.
The performer, who has battled with a sickness for some time, passed on at 3:3am on Saturday at her cousin’s home in Uriri voting public, Migori district.
Bella Akinyi, the cousin, affirmed the demise via telephone.
“She was undergoing home-based care after being discharged at Pastor Machage hospital in Migori town, she has passed on,” she said.
Maureen was conceived on November 22, 1984 at Seme Kombewa town and has created a few well known tunes, generally singing about key lawmakers in Nyanza area.
Before Maureen’s destruction, gossipy tidbits about her wellbeing had circled via web-based networking media, making the performer record a video affirming she was alive.
One of Maureen’s well known melodies was ‘alemo’.
A month ago, another Ohangla performer, Bernard Obonyo, famously known as Abenny Jachiga, kicked the bucket.
There was tumult as Jachiga was covered by police officers subtly at 2:30am. Just his sibling saw the entombment.
“We were inside the house and possibly heard sounds and when we opened the entryway, we saw that he was being covered as the officials were on reserve,” said one of the family members in a live recorded video on Facebook.
