Former Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo has threatened to walk out of Kenya Kwanza Alliance just hours after the details of the power-sharing deal in the outfit emerged.
Addressing the public on Thursday in Kiambu, Kabogo said if Deputy President William Ruto’s power structure is not revised to include the people of the Mt. Kenya region, he will leave the Alliance.
“When I met the deputy president in Dubai, I told him I don’t want anything from his government. What I asked him is to ensure the interest of the Mt Kenya region is well captured in his government,” he said.
“We have seen the details of his agreement with other members of the coalition. If that is not rectified to capture the interest of the people living in Mt Kenya then we will have to leave.”
The former governor is the leader of the Tujibebe Party, which is a member of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
Details of how Ruto will share power with his key partners in the Alliance emerged on Wednesday.
The alliance is made of three founding members including Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC, Moses Wetang’ula’s Ford Kenya, DP’s UDA and other parties.
PAA and MCC also got a share in the division, after having recently decamped from Raila Odinga’s Azimio.
In the agreement, Mudavadi will be allocated the seat of Prime Cabinet Secretary which will be created through an executive order in the event Ruto becomes president.
Wetangula has been allocated the National Assembly speakers seat.
