Police and security officials are searching for a group of five armed men who broke into the Nakuru branch of Prime Bank at the Westside Mall on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the incident report written by a bank manager, five robbers with homemade guns, hammers, knives and a panga stormed the branch and took nine bank employees who were on duty hostage.
The thugs reportedly directed them into the toilets and locked them inside, then began ransacking the cash drawers.
Police have meanwhile recovered a homemade gun, hammer, mobile phone and a Ksh.1,000 note from the scene.
A bank teller injured by a hammer-wielding robber has been treated and released.
