A post-mortem to establish the cause of the death of Kisumu businessman Jack Sawo is set to be conducted at Aga Khan Hospital.
Jack Sawo is said to have collapsed and died on Monday at Milimani Estate in Kisumu.
Police said the post-mortem will be conducted by a government pathologist and two private pathologists as investigations into the mysterious death continue.
Kisumu Central DCI David Sichangi told the Star on the phone that the family has agreed on the post-mortem which was set for Friday.
Jack, who hails from Karachuonyo in Homa Bay County, has been living in Kisumu for years and conducts his businesses in the lakeside city.
Earlier, there was a standoff between Jack’s family and a woman claiming to be his wife, who allegedly rushed him to the hospital after the deceased collapsed.
She allegedly wanted to bring a private pathologist to conduct an autopsy without the involvement of Jack’s relatives.
Jack was rushed to the hospital by the said woman whom they were living with and doing business together in Milimani Estate.
According to his friends, Jack was in good health and is said to have left them after receiving a call from a woman in Milimani Estate where he was reported to have collapsed and died.
“We ate lunch together with Jack before he left us promising to come to pay the bill. When we called him after about 40 minutes, we were told that he is dead and at Aga Khan hospital Mortuary,” a friend said.
He left a widow and six children.
