An accountant with a Nairobi-based paints firm was shot and killed in a struggle with armed suspected thugs who wanted to grab a carrier bag that contained two disposable cups in Donholm.
Nicodemus Munyasya, 38, was Monday night shot and killed as he walked home after visiting a bank.
He was carrying a bag containing the cups.
The killers mistook the bag for money.
He had earlier left his office, visited a bank and was headed home with the teacups.
On reaching Savannah a gang that was riding on a motorcycle accosted him and demanded that he hands over the bag.
Police said they suspect the gang knew who Munyasya was and where he works.
He had earlier deposited a cheque at a local bank.
In the process, the victim resisted prompting a confrontation and shooting.
He was shot four times in the chest and leg.
Police arrived at the scene and recovered a spent cartridge and bullet head, a mobile phone and Sh100 from his pocket before moving the body to the mortuary.
