Kenyan security forces have captured 15 suspected al-Shabaab militants in the Boni Forest.
According to reports, the security forces tracked the suspects to their hideout after following their footprints.
The police believe that the suspects were planning and executing the spate of recent robberies in Lamu from their hideout.
Lamu has experienced a wave of attacks in recent weeks that left 15 civilians dead and more than 15 homes razed to the ground.
The Kenyan government has imposed a 30-day curfew in several regions, which it has categorized as ‘disturbed areas’ by the Interior Ministry.
Kenyan security forces have been combating an Al-Shabaab affiliate known as Jeshi la Ayman since 2014.
